Family GodVenture events are a chance to experience some creative ways to meet God together as a family.
They provide a simple, creative Bible and prayer activities for famillies to try out together. The activities are designed for primary age children, so families are encourage to come if most of their children are between 4 and 11 years old. Events are hosted by local churches and last for between two and four hours.
Families are given everything they need to try out a variety of different ways of exploring a Bible story together. They then have a chance to experiment with 12 of more different prayer ideas, responding in thanks, praise, saying sorry to God and asking Him to do things. The activities are fun and simple enough to do again at home, using items families are likely to be able to have or get hold of easily.
The sessions ends with a time for families to think about what activities worked best for them. They are encouraged to write a postcard to themselves which they’ll receive a few weeks after the event to remind them what they enjoyed doing. Included in the fee is a gift for each family to help them carry on doing ‘God stuff’ together at home.
Each event is for 10-15 families, although it is possible to do two events on one day to allow more families to join in. The event layout and timing is tailored to suit the families of the local host church, so each event is unique, as you’ll see from these event reports:
