The Bank Holiday weekend was a great time to focus on children and families at St Annes Baptist Church, in Lytham St Annes.
The weekend started with a really well attended Friday evening session for everyone involved in children’s work at the church, followed the next morning with a Family GodVenture event.
The large downstairs hall made a fabulous venue to start in, with families moving freely through the hall trying out different Bible activities. It was a lovely relaxed, church-family atmosphere and families made some brilliant personalised mini books including a photo of Jesus drinking a cup of tea having finished calming the storm!
Later families did a kind-of-treasure-hunt, searching around much of the extensive church building for different prayer activities. The ball pool prayer was popular, as were the sweets prayer, of course.
Families said they had a good time, and went away with ideas for things they’d like to try again.

Friday night was a real inspiration for us ‘grown ups’, it re enthused me about what could be acheived with young children. I took my 4 year old twins along to the family event the next day and what a lot of fun we had ! The range of activities meant that each twin, with their individual learning styles was catered for, and it was a lovely time together . Oh , and yes, we learnt so much about Jesus in such a memorable way, that months on from the event, the twins can still tell me the stories and more importantly, the meanings !
Thank you GodVenture !
